“What’s the matter, Billie? Someone coming to check in on you?”

In the most bustling part of Sterling City, Billie, clad in luxurious brands from head to toe, put her phone down helplessly.

Beside her, a petite baby-faced woman spoke up with a curious expression. She was Billie’s university mate, Aliza Howell. Other than Aliza, there was a tall woman with a cold expression and pronounced chest, Judith Pedler.

The two were good friends of Billie’s. They were here to attend the welcoming party as well.

It was considered a welcoming party, but in truth, it was a gathering of the Oaklands University’s next generation. The gathering would determine the most outstanding ones from the freshmen.

Billie scrolled past her phone helplessly.

“You two don’t know about this… My dad found a random man, and said he arranged a marriage between me and that guy when we were little.

“My mom and I don’t even like him, but my dad just keeps pushing us together!”

“An arranged marriage? Since you were children?”

Aliza showed a playful expression.

“People still do this outside of TV in this day and age? Tell us more! How does the man look? Is he rich? How is he compared to my boyfriend?”

Aliza’s boyfriend was well-known for being in a rich family in the outskirts. Not only was he wealthy, but he was also handsome as well.

Many women who tried pursuing him, but ultimately, he was interested in Aliza. Aliza’s family wasn’t bad either, so it was considered a pretty good match.

Before Billie could reply, Judith quickly spoke up. “I told you already, Aliza. You can’t just look for a rich and handsome man! His personality and talents are the most important thing!”

Aliza glared at Judith.

“If you’re that impressive, then find a man yourself already!”

she snapped.

“Let me tell you something! Personality and talents mean nothing in this day and age! Without a good background, the man has no choice but to be a lackey!”

Judith was showing utter disdain. She clearly had different views compared to Aliza.

“Stop it! What’s the point of fighting? It’s just a man!” Billie said, sighing.

“This guy’s called Harvey York. He’s from Golden Sands.

“I heard he had a dad before, but that man has passed away.

Without any family, he had no choice but to seek help from mine.

“My dad’s probably treating him as his own. He’s trying to get his own live-in son-in-law or something…”

“A son-in-law?” Aliza burst out laughing. “Our high school classmates would’ve lined up in front of you if they heard about this!”

“That’s right! You should never take a man who’s willing to become a live-in son-in-law!” Judith added.

“Guys like that have no personality, talent, and even dignity!

Your life would be horrible if you settle for someone like that!”

Billie rolled her eyes.

“What are you two saying? When did I say that I was interested? That man gives me nothing but headaches!”

Aliza’s eyes lit up.

“It’s fine, Billie. Since he’s coming tonight, we’ll just have to trample all over him! We’ll make him understand that he has no right to be with a goddess like you!” she suggested.
